She Really Hated My Book! An Amazing True Story

True Story. Woman emailed me five years ago to tell me that she hated one of my books so much that she burned it. Why she hated it is beside the point. I ignored the email, thinking I didn't want to get into a pissing contest with her.

Last night, I thought of the perfect response. I should've said, "Thank you very much! Because to burn a book you first have to buy the book, AND I GET THE ROYALTY!!! Burn all my books! Great!”

It occurs to me now that this story is a real Jerry Seinfeld moment. I can hear him telling the story on his TV show. But it’s also a real George Costanza moment because I didn't think of the perfect comeback for five years.
