'I'm Here To Kill You!' A Shocking True Crime Story

The rapper formerly known to his mother as Marshall Mathers wakes up in his Clinton Township home, north of Detroit, April 5. His home security system is screaming an alert. It’s 4 a.m., and Eminem has a feeling that someone else is in the room. Indeed, Eminem feels like someone is standing right behind him.

Right! There was someone behind him. Must be my nephew, Eminem thinks. But here he’s wrong.

Eminem turns around to see a stranger standing beside him, a guy who looks over at him and says, “I’m here to kill you.”

Well, you know Eminem isn’t going down easily.

He fought with the intruder in his living room, and, according to an associate, “physically detained” Hughes until a private security officer arrived with handcuffs.

The stranger in Eminem’s house — Matthew David Hughes — faced his preliminary court hearing on September 9 in Macomb County, Michigan. He’s charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property.

Eminem wasn’t there in person, but he did watch the proceedings on a video link.

The red-haired and bearded Hughes will be back in court on September 28 for trial on the charges. Now, Hughes previously turned down a chance to talk to a psychiatrist. But his attorney, Richard Glanda, thinks that was a mistake.

Glanda told reporters outside the courthouse following his client’s preliminary hearing, “In my opinion, I think there’s some sort of mental issues involved here.”

Ya think?
